Bezos Lands from Space, Give away $200 Million

pub-1983860445386454 Minutes after landing, from space,Jeff Bezos began his day by thanking his company team(Blue Origin) for making his trip to space successful.In his post trip conference,the American billionaire also thanked the Texas town of Van Horn, which hosted Tuesday launch, making a historic moment for Bezos and his Blue Origin company.''I want to thank every Amazon employee, every Amazon customer, cause you guys paid for all these... Thank you from the bottom of my heart very much''. Bezos said.His comments has however elicited mixed reactions from news conference audience, the American people, and the whole world with many criticizing his attitude of concentrating on space tours but ignoring the problems on Earth.It is estimated that Amazon employs nearly 1.3 Million employees, most of them engaging in package of goods in warehouses. The company was among the first major corporations which raised its starting wage to $15 an our, and in 2020, the company media wage was $29,007.After his 11-minute launch to the edge of space on Tuesday, Bezos gave $200 Million in "courage and civility" awards". The amount has been divided among two beneficiaries, Chef Jose' Andres and CNN personality and social media entrepreneur Van Jones, meant for charities and non profit organizations of their choice."We need unifies and not vilifies. It is easy to be courageous but also mean. Try being courageous and civil. Try being being courageous and a unifier. That's harder and way better, and makes the world better" Bezos said.Bezos who stepped down as Amazon's CEO on July 5, 25 years since he launched the company, remains the company's biggest shareholder having his wealth tied at the company, now estimated at $1.8 trillion. In 2020, Bezos and his ex-wife MacKenzie Scott, were among the top list of U.S. charity donors.The billionaire is said to have put some money to cater for homelessness, education and climate change. In a presser on Monday, Bezos responded to critics who argued that his wealth would serve better if directed to more urgent needs on Earth, saying that they have to do both, tackling the problems on Earth and looking for the future of the coming generation.
